Tag: poly grow bags for plants

A poly grow bags for plants is typically made out of a durable plastic material, which is generally opaque to help keep sunlight from heating up the soil. This helps ensure your plant stays healthy in cold weather.

The transparent nature of grow bags also make it easy to see what’s going on in there at any given time—which is especially helpful when you’re dealing with seedlings.

A typical grow bag measures about 18 inches by 36 inches. And it has one opening at either end where plants can be placed and removed easily.

Why use a poly grow bags for plants?

Plastic grow bags don’t breathe. As a result, they will trap moisture and promote rot and mould growth if there is too much moisture in your garden.

  • They also do not provide adequate drainage because there are no holes. To allow water to drain away from your plants.
  • If you live in an area that receives heavy rainfall during certain seasons. you may be prone to root rot due to their lack of drainage holes.
  • In addition, plastic grows bags can make it difficult to care for plant roots.
  • The texture of plastic does not allow for oxygen to permeate through it.
  • So even if water drains away quickly, air cannot pass into the soil easily.

Tips on using Poly Grow Bags For Plants

  1. Place grow bags in well-lit locations where they’ll receive six to eight hours of sunlight each day.
  2. Add sand, vermiculite or both to the bag before adding soil to help keep moisture levels consistent and prevent roots from rotting in high temperatures or in low oxygen conditions.
  3. Water your plants every two days when using water-soluble nutrients.
  4. Empty excess water from a grow bag. By inverting it over a sink after watering to collect runoff.
